Hydropower with BEVI

Solutions and Services for Small and Medium-Sized Hydropower Plants

BEVI is the obvious choice for plant owners, operations organizations, and general contractors when it comes to small and medium-sized hydropower stations. We offer both system solutions as well as service and maintenance for maximum availability. Through strong connections with turbine manufacturers, we can also provide comprehensive solutions.

Hydropower is a renewable and clean energy source that harnesses the power of water to generate electricity. It is one of the oldest and most widely used forms of renewable energy in the world. Hydropower plants convert the potential energy in water stored in dams or reservoirs into kinetic energy that drives turbines and generators. The amount of electricity produced depends on the volume of water and the height, as well as the efficiency of the turbines and generators.

What are the benefits of hydropower?

  • Hydropower is a reliable and stable energy source that can be adjusted according to demand.
  • Hydropower is environmentally friendly and does not emit greenhouse gases or pollutants.
  • Hydropower is cost-effective with low operational and maintenance costs.
  • Hydropower can benefit the local economy and create jobs.
  • Hydropower can improve water quality and flood control in the area.

BEVI Contributes to 67,000 Tons of Reduced CO2 Emissions

BEVI has renovated a total of 76 hydropower stations over the past 10 years (2010–2020).

Together, these stations generate an average of 198 GWh of fossil-free energy per year, resulting in a saving of 67,000 tons of CO2.*

By renovating and extending the life of older hydropower stations, BEVI contributes to generating fossil-free energy. In addition to reducing CO2 emissions, renovation also saves resources compared to building new plants. In many cases, efficiency also increases with renovation.

Goals for Renewable Energy

The EU has set common targets for renewable energy: By 2030, 32 percent of the EU's energy consumption should come from renewable sources.

The UN's global goals also state that by 2030, we should significantly increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix and double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency.

BEVI is a knowledgeable partner on this journey towards a more sustainable world.
